Stacy is from a small town in northern Minnesota named Babbitt. Babbitt (14 miles from Ely) holds a population of about 1500 people. Stacy’s graduating class was a whopping 48 students. In the early 80’s she had a bedroom full of Barbies, My Little Pony’s, and Troll Dolls that had the fanciest hair in town as Stacy was forever fluffing, brushing, braiding, washing and in some cases, cutting their hair. Stacy remembers having her friends in the neighborhood over and tirelessly working on braiding their hair until she finally got it right.
As she got older Stacy was the go-to for up styles for her friends for school dances. Hair styling was always one of Stacy’s favorite hobbies.
Her passion for hairstyling, at that point, was not enough to send her to cosmetology school right after high-school graduation in the spring of 98’. Stacy attended the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks in the fall of 98’ where she played on the women’s golf team and pursued a degree in Physical Education K-12 and a minor in Health Sciences. Stacy’s last 4 months of college brought her to the Twin Cities where she completed her student teaching in St. Paul.
Stacy graduated with her Bachelors degree and a health minor in December of 2002. Stacy spent several months substitute teaching and working as a waitress after her December graduation and that is when she realized that a teaching career was, after all, not what she wanted to pursue.
It wasn’t easy to walk away from the 4 years of hard work it took to obtain her teaching degree but Stacy was certain it wasn’t her calling. Stacy made her decision to attend Salon Professional’s Academy in 2003 and graduated in the summer of 2004.
Stacy started her hair styling career at Fantasia Salon in August of 04’ and she has been there ever since. She has now worked at Fantasia for more than 12 years!
In her 12 years at Fantasia, Stacy met Kip and they adopted their first baby, a lobaradore retriever named Winnie, in 2006 (Winnie is now 10 years old and is definitely showing her age). Stacy and Kip were married in June of 2007 and they have since added 3 beautiful children to their family, Will (7), Kelsy (5) and Lainy (3).
Stacy enjoys spending time with her family very much! They are all very active in sports, hunting and fishing. Will is now in Mites hockey which is all new to the family and we are getting used to the idea that hockey will run our lives from now on! He is also in baseball and everything else BOY.
Kelsy is in gymnastics, figure skating and fashion. Lainy, so far, just tags along to be the supportive, sometimes annoying little sister to her brother and sister. Stacy also enjoys fitness and cooking (when she has time).
Over the years Stacy has offered a wide range of services. She recently narrowed the services she offers to all types of hair color (retouches, foils, balayage, glazes), haircuts and facial waxing. Stacy has become one of Fantasia’s fabulous color specialists.
Her goal at Fantasia is to give every client adequate time for them to really express their hair needs, wants and challenges. By narrowing down the services she offers she can really spend that quality time with each guest.
Stacy is a Redken Specialist, which means she has been trained in everything the Redken brand has to offer but her true passion is hair color.
Fantasia brings in quarterly trend color training to keep all of the stylists up on the current fashion trends. She attends classes regularly for both hair cutting and color. Stacy has completed the Surface Day Maker program and the Summit Salon Business training course. She is always looking for new classes to attend and of course, scrolling through Pinterest to find inspiration!
“I owe it all to Stacy and the team at Fantasia!” — ELLEN L.
I've had to have my hair colored for the past 15 years, and I've never found anyone more talented than Stacy Berglund. She is truly an artist with hair dye! I get more compliments on my hair, mostly from people who don't know I color it. And I owe it all to Stacy and the team at Fantasia!
